Don't Try Me - 02:55

[Intro]
Yeah…
I tried to be you
But I lost me

[Verse 1]
I bent too far just to fit your frame
Said “I’m okay” but I’m not the same
Every “yes” just erased my name
Now I don’t even feel my face

Played it nice, yeah I played it cool
Learned your rules, made myself small too
If love means I disappear
Then I don’t want that kinda truth

[Pre-Chorus]
I was fading in your light
Now I’m stepping out the line

[Chorus]
Don’t try me, don’t try me
I’m done being who you like me to be
You had me quiet, had me low
Now I’m louder than you want me to be

Don’t try me, don’t try me
I’m done playing nice so easily
You almost made me disappear
Now watch me walk away freely

[Verse 2]
You liked me better when I stayed weak
Soft voice, no choice, couldn’t even speak
But pressure builds and it always leaks
Now you’re scared of the girl I keep

I gave you space, I gave you grace
You took it all and erased my place
But I’m not yours to reshape
I break out, I don’t break

[Pre-Chorus]
You don’t get to dim my fire
I’m done feeding your desire

[Chorus]
Don’t try me, don’t try me
I’m done being who you like me to be
You had me quiet, had me low
Now I’m louder than you want me to be

Don’t try me, don’t try me
I’m done playing nice so easily
You almost made me disappear
Now watch me walk away freely

[Bridge]
You thought I’d stay…
You thought I’d break…

I was shrinking, I was sinking, I was living in your frame
Now I’m cutting every string and I don’t answer to your name

[Final Chorus]
Don’t try me, don’t try me
I’m done being who you want me to be
I found my voice, I found my way
Now I’m everything you couldn’t control

Don’t try me, don’t try me
Yeah I’m walking out, I’m finally free
You almost buried who I was
Now I’m someone you can’t even reach

[Outro]
I choose me now
