The afternoon is turning gray
A little colder than yesterday
I hear the raindrops on the street
And slow my steps beneath the trees

I thought I'd left those days behind
But they come back from time to time
Like a familiar melody
Playing somewhere inside of me

Autumn rain, falling down
Washing softly through this town
Every drop brings back a name
Nothing ever feels quite the same

I'll just walk a little slow
And let these old feelings come and go

I thought I'd learned to let things go
But some things take a little more

Maybe some things never disappear
They simply wait for this time of year
